1. When is Hill Farms open for the 2026 Christmas tree season and what are the hours?

We typically open the day after Thanksgiving (late November) and remain open through mid December.

• Hours are usually:
• Weekends: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Weekdays: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Midweek visits are quieter and often more relaxed. Exact 2026 dates and hours will be posted here and on our social media closer to the season. Please check back for updates!

• We’re located at 1434 Gilberts Hill Road in Lehighton, PA (Mahoning Valley), approximately 30 minutes north of the Lehigh Valley.
• Ample parking is available on-site – follow signs once you arrive.
• We also offer the option to print directions from this page.

3. How much do Christmas trees cost at Hill Farms, in Lehighton, PA this year?

• Traditional patch: $65
• Trolley-accessible taller trees: $70–$180
• Pre-Cut Trees: $20-$140
• All prices include cutting, shaking, baling and drilling (if needed). We accept ALL Major Credit Cards and cash.

4. Do you offer Choose & Cut or pre-cut trees, and which varieties are available?

• Fraser Fir (our main focus and bestseller – 75% of trees)
• Nordmann Fir and Turkish Fir (large, mature selections – our specialties)
• Concolor Fir (limited supply only)

5. What amenities do you offer such as saws, carts, restrooms, parking lots and gift shop?

• Free use of saws, measuring sticks and tree carts
• On-site tree shaking, baling and stand straight drilling system
• Port-a-pots available
• Large parking area with easy access
• Primitive Pinecone Gift & Greenery Shop open during season (see below)
• Tree trolley transport for taller trees in select patches (weather permitting)
• Bring your own saw if preferred, but we have plenty!

6. Are dogs allowed at Hill Farms?

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome & we love having furry family members join the tree-hunting adventure. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times for everyone’s safety (including other visitors and the trees themselves). Please clean up after your pet and be mindful of others in crowded areas. Thanks for helping keep our farm family friendly and enjoyable for all!

7. What Christmas tree varieties does Hill Farms grow in 2026?

Our main focus is premium Fraser Fir, which makes up about 75% of our inventory and remains the classic favorite for its strong branches, great scent and reliable performance. We also offer the largest, mature blocks of Nordmann Fir and Turkish Fir — premium European varieties we’ve specialized in since the late 1990s after testing 22 types from around the world. Limited Concolor Fir available this season for its unique citrusy scent and blue-green needles. We’ve phased out of Douglas Fir based on shifting preferences to superior varieties.

8. Why are more Northeast families choosing Nordmann and Turkish Firs over traditional Fraser?

They address key preferences: very low fragrance (ideal for allergies), softer needles, sturdy layered branches for heavy ornaments and excellent needle retention which keeps them looking lush longer in typical homes. We’ve pioneered them here for nearly 30 years, making Hill Farms one of the leading sources east of the Mississippi.

10. What makes Hill Farms one of the leading sources for Nordmann and Turkish Firs in the Northeast US?

As a 4th-generation Christmas tree farm since 1938, we’ve always been early adopters and pioneers in planting new varieties east of the Mississippi. Most recently we’ve tested 22 different exotic varieties, starting in the 1990s, and narrowed our focus to Nordmann and Turkish Firs. Growers have called Turkish Fir “a Fraser on steroids” for its enhanced traits. Our large mature blocks, quality processing, and nearly 90 years of Christmas tree production experience separates us as expert producers of premium Nordmann and Turkish — few competitors offer this depth.

11. How do the sturdy branches and look of Nordmann and Turkish Firs compare to Fraser?

Nordmann and Turkish feature sturdy, layered branches which excel with heavy ornaments and garlands, plus a sophisticated glossy, dark green look (silver undersides on Nordmann, fuller layering on Turkish).

Fraser has strong upward-angled branches with a classic dense, conical shape — timeless and decorator friendly. All three hold ornaments beautifully.

12. Do you still have Concolor Fir, and how does it compare?

Limited supply in 2026.
Concolor (White Fir) offers longer blue-green needles and a fresh citrusy scent (lighter than Fraser). Branches are sturdy but softer. It’s a nice alternative if you want variety from the usual firs.

13. How do I maximize freshness for my tree at home?

• Use a stand with ample water (check/refill daily, especially first week)
• Keep away from heat vents, direct sun, fireplaces
• Recut the trunk before standing the tree up
• Never allow the water line to go below the base of the trunk
• Run a humidifier, if needed
